Despite being the site of the fourth-century bishop of Tours, it was also a territory accustomed to conflicts between the kings of Frank such as Sigibert and Chilperic. In 585, Gregory was opposed by a coalition formed by a section of the Touraine clergy, the enemies of the Austrasian family and the count of the city. During this time Touraine was being disputed by Merovingian princes. Despite being a person who respected authority, Gregory got involved in these political quarrels as he attempted to defend the rights of Saint Martin. However, he had more quite relations with successors of Chilperic. Although he could not maintain his authority in a province divided among a number of different kingdoms, he did new things in Tours and prolonged Saint Martin’s authority. Gregory died in Tours on November 17 in 593 or 594. By the time of his death, he had made many accomplishments among them being the work of rebuilding Tours cathedral as well as improving its collection of relic materials. There have been various debates in the past on Gregory’s aim for writing the history of the Franks. To begin with, the title ‘history of the Franks†™ gives an impression that his work is primarily based on history. Anyone who reads the title will believe that the principle behind the work is the history of the Merovingian and Frankish kingdoms, their kings and successors. In fact, the topics range from attempts by Clovis to eliminate Frankish kings who were his rivals. However, Gregory’s intention was not to write a political history but rather to intertwine both ecclesiastical and secular history in order to pass his message. The word history is contrary to what Gregory wanted to convey in his work the history of the Franks. But for Gregory and other ancient writers such as Herodotus the word Historiae is used to refer to an account of witnessed events rather than events heard of. In fact, six among the ten books Gregory wrote revolve around his own times. In book one, Gregory goes back to the creation of man, some ev ents in the Old Testament and ends with the death of bishop Martin of Tours. In book two he discusses the disputes that took place between early Frankish kings and ends with Clovis’s death. In book three, he discusses the fortunes of Clovis’s sons and from the fourth book; he discusses his early life, family and events during his times. In business or economics a merger is a combination of two companies into one larger company. Such actions are commonly voluntary and involve stock swap or cash payment to the target. Stock swap is often used as it allows the shareholders of the two companies to share the risk involved in the deal. A merger can resemble a takeover but result in a new company name (often combining the names of the original companies) and in new branding; in some cases, terming the combination a merger rather than an acquisition is done purely for political or marketing reasons. Growing at a rate of 25 per cent, the fruitdrinks category is one of the fastest growing in the beverages market. The Indian food processing industry plays a significant role in diversifaction of agriculture products, generates employment, enhances income of farmers and creates a surplus for export of agro-foods. The important reason of the MA activity initiated in this industry are deregulation, restructuring disinvestment, restructuring by parent companies and presence of foreign players. Textiles Industry: Until the economic liberalization of Indian economy, the India Textile Industry was predominantly unorganized industry. Today, Indian economy is largely dependent on textile manufacturing and exports. India earns around 27% of the foreign exchange from exports of textiles. Further, India Textile Industry contributes about 14% of the total industrial production of India. Furthermore, its contribution to the gross domestic product of India is around 3% only. Textile Industry involves around 35 million workers directly and it accounts for 21% of the total employment generated in the economy. However the important reasons for the MAs in these sectors are: growth of power looms and handlooms sector at the cost of mill sector which has ultimately resulted in making them sick and unviable. This has led to an increase in the closure of mills; in addition, continued and persistent use of old plant and machinery has led to low profitability in the mill sector and thereby forcing some of mills to closedowns. Chemicals, Drugs and Pharmaceuticals: Under this category companies operating in the industrial groups of chemicals, drugs, pharmaceutical, cosmetics petrochemicals and rubbers have been taken into account for analyzing the trend and progress. The drug pharmaceutical industry in India meets around 70% of the countrys demand for bulk drugs, drug intermediates, pharmaceutical formulations, chemicals, tablets, capsules, orals and injectibles. There are about 250 large Pharmaceuticals manufacturers and suppliers and about 8000 Small Scale Pharmaceutical Drug Units which form the core of the pharmaceutical industry in India (including 5 Central Public Sector Units). These magical powers are said to be symbols of completion and creation. 124 fits this astrological delineation because the sum of the three digits in the number add up to the aforementioned 7. In addition, a significant association among characters in the novel is in the form of three people -- Sethe, Beloved, and Denver. Secondly, the name of the protagonist of the novel, Sethe, is associated with "one of the major gods of ancient Egypt and the Biblical Seth, who was the child of Adam and Eve" (Samuels 136). This Egyptian god was part man and part animal or bird, which explains the animal imagery surrounding Sethe in the novel. Officially set into force on the first day of July 2002, the ICC now hadles various cases in different categories of identified international crimes. More so, the ICC now has a pool of its respected members coming from 108 different states and countries across the globe. Although some may argue that the formation of ICC will never be effective in resolving the issues and problems of serious international crimes and that there are countries who doubt the functions of this treaty, it can not be denied that ICC has a huge potential in portraying significant contributions when it comes to handling severe international crimes. For instance, the case of Augusto Pinochet, a long-time dictator in Chile for 17 years, is a serious legal case where the ICC could function in delivering justice to the people who have been victimized by his tyranny. For a certain period of time, Pinochet has been cheating the process of justice despite the extensive efforts exerted by many of the European Ledears, as he is accused of ordering massive killings, tortures and abductions of about a thousand Chileans for him to stay in power for 17 long years. As for this type of case, ICC could make a difference in such a way that it could act as the proper court that would primarily handles international criminal acts like Pinochet’s, say that the efforts of local leaders, as similar to the actions of European legislators to bring Pinochet to justice, is no longer effective to protect the welfare of the people. Through its given set of rules and laws, the ICC could primarily define and classify the offensive actions of powerful countries, whether these agressions has probable cause or is just subjectively motivated to gather extension of power and gain supremacy. In this case, ICC could contribute to the process of prosecution of serious international crimes, as this mainly provides transparency and uniformity to prosecute individuals who commits crime listed under the international law. From a personal point of view, the establishment and ratification of the ICC is indeed a positive development to further strengthen the stability of international law and community. Apart from its positive connotation in delivering justice to the people and sentencing offenders as well as individuals that violates the crimes under its laws, the ICC could as well be named as the defender of human rights in the global as it generally covers international crimes and human right offenses such as genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity and crimes of agression. With its specialized function and primarily position in d elivering justice in the international, the ICC could make its own significant contribution in the prosecution of serious international crimes in such a way that it could handle a speedier court proceeding, as it only handles special legal cases which are that of serious international criminal acts. Lastly, the International Criminal Court or the ICC could significantly contribute in the process of prosecution of international crimes through a fair and reliable handling of legal cases, as it is and remains to be an international independent legal court with the support of different countries in the world. How to Transfer Colleges A Guide for Success

If youre thinking of transferring to a new college, you arent alone. A 2015 study from the National Student Clearinghouse Research Center revealed that 37.2 percent of college students transfer to a different college within six years of first starting school.   If youre thinking of transferring, make sure you are informed about how the process works. With some careful planning, you can avoid many of the hidden costs of transferring and ensure that your attempt to transfer is successful. Done improperly, you may end up with a rejection from your target school, or your transfer may lead to a longer and more expensive path to graduation. Have a Good Reason for Transferring Colleges Before you decide to change schools, make sure you have a good reason for transferring.  Struggles with bad roommates or difficult professors are likely to improve over time, and its important to give yourself adequate time to adjust to college life before considering a transfer. If youre trying to transfer to a selective four-year college, the admissions folks will be looking to see that you have a compelling  reason for your transfer. They will admit only those students whose transfer applications articulate a clear and meaningful rationale for the transfer. Choose Classes at Your Current College Carefully One of the greatest frustrations when transferring to a new college can arise when you try to transfer credits from your current college to your new college. Remedial classes often wont transfer, and highly specialized classes may transfer as elective credits that dont count towards  graduation requirements. If your credits fail to transfer, youll may be looking at a longer time to graduation, which can be one of the most significant hidden costs of transferring. Even if your target school costs much less than your current college, you wont realize those savings if you end up paying for an extra year of tuition and fees. You may be able to avoid this problem by taking general education classes such as Introduction to Psychology or American Literature, which are offered at nearly all colleges and generally transfer without problems. Also, look to see if your target school has an articulation agreement with your current college. Many colleges have pre-approved classes for transfer credit. Within public university systems, youll often find that articulation agreements are in place for students who transfer from community colleges to four-year state universities. Keep Up Your Grades atYour Current College Even after you decide to transfer, keep your grades up.  Colleges want to admit transfer students who have demonstrated their ability to succeed in college. Just as your academic record in high school was the most important part of your regular college application, your college academic record is going to be the most important part of your transfer application. The admissions folks will be looking to see that you have a proven record of  handling college-level work. Also, think about your transfer credits and the time it will take you to graduate. Colleges generally wont transfer grades that are lower than a C. The fewer credits you are able to transfer, the longer it will take you to graduate. If it takes you five or six years to graduate instead of four, you could be looking at tens of thousands of dollars of additional costs as well as a year or two in which you arent earning income. Position Yourself to Get Good Letters of Recommendation Its important that you dont burn bridges at your current college. Many transfer applications require at least one letter of recommendation from a faculty member at your current school, so make sure you have a good relationship with one or two professors so that you can get  positive recommendations. Youll be in an awkward position if you need to ask for a letter from a professor whose class youve regularly skipped or who doesnt know who you are. Step outside of your own shoes and think about what a recommender will say about you. Finally, be thoughtful and give your recommenders plenty of time to write their letters. Its inconsiderate and unreasonable to ask for a letter that is due in 24 hours, and you may very well get a refusal from your professor. Plan ahead, and make sure the people recommending you have at least a couple of weeks to write their letters. Keep Track of Transfer Application Deadlines If youre planning to begin classes at your new college in the fall, transfer application deadlines will often be in March or April. Typically, the more selective the school, the earlier the deadline will be (for example, Harvard Universitys transfer application deadline is March 1st and Cornell Universitys is March 15th). Transfer students in the University of California system need to apply at the same time as the regular applicant pool in November. At many less selective schools, transfer applications can be submitted in late spring or even the summer for fall admission. Deadlines will often be flexible depending on the colleges current needs and enrollments. Penn State, for example, has an April 15th priority deadline, but after that date the university has a rolling admission policy. In general, you will  have the best chances of a successful transfer if you plan ahead and submit your application before the published deadline. This is particularly true for highly selective colleges and universities. That said, youll still have many transfer options should you decide to transfer at the end of the academic year, and its not that unusual for students to transfer just a couple of weeks before classes begin. Youll want to contact the admissions office at your target school to find out if they are still accepting transfer applications. Make Sure Your Transfer Application Essay Is Specific and Polished Dont underestimate the importance of your transfer application essay. The Common Application for transfer students asks for a statement that addresses your reasons for transferring and the objectives you hope to achieve.  Colleges that dont use the Common Application will typically ask a similar question: Why do you want to transfer to our school? As you write your transfer essay, youll want to have clear, school-specific reasons for your transfer. What exactly does your target school offer that makes it attractive to you? Does it have a specific academic program that speaks to your interests and career goals? Does the school have an approach to learning that you think is a good match for you? As a test to see if your essay succeeds on this front, try replacing your target schools name with a different schools name everywhere in your essay. If your the still makes sense when you substitute in a different colleges name for your target school, your essay is too vague and generic. The admissions officers dont just want to know why you want to transfer to a different school. They want to know why you want to transfer to their  school. Finally, keep in mind that a good transfer essay  does more than present clear and specific reasons for transferring. It also needs to be polished and engaging. Proofread and edit carefully to improve the essays style  and ensure that your prose is free of awkward language and grammatical errors. Visit Campus and Make an Informed Decision Before you accept an offer of transfer admission, make sure you are making a wise decision. Visit the campus of your target school. Sit in on classes. Talk with professors in the major you hope to pursue. And ideally, arrange an overnight visit to get a good sense of the campus environment. In short,  make sure that your target school truly is a good match for your personal and professional goals. Ultimately, you should feel confident and clear-headed in your decision to transfer.
